SitRep: DOD OIG Report Outlines Critical Limitations in Tracking Funds Allocated to Chinese Bio-Research Labs.

The Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG) publicly released a management advisory on June 18, 2024, addressing the limitations of DoD systems in tracking funding allocated to Chinese research laboratories conducting research on "pathogens of pandemic potential." This review was conducted in response to Public Law 118-31, “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024,” section 252. The advisory aims to inform Congress and DoD leadership about the results of this review, highlighting the need for improved oversight and accountability in the allocation and tracking of such funds[1][2][3][4][5].
